Kristin Graves is a fifth generation farmer in Alberta, and the author of The Garlic Companion. She started Fifth Gen Gardens in 2017 with a goal to connect people with local, wholesome food. In the years since, her garden has nourished families throughout central Alberta and provided many local chefs with homegrown ingredients. In 2022, Fifth Gen Gardens was named Wetaskiwin’s Agricultural & Food Business of the year! Kristin is deeply committed local food and local people! She has now forged her own way in garlic on the family farm. While becoming known as the Garlic Goddess, Kristin has created unique garlic products using her very own homegrown, spray-free garlic bulbs, and incorporates many seasonally foraged ingredients. Her goal is to continue her family’s legacy while promoting the importance of female farmers that embrace their femininity and strength, creating a new way forward for the agriculture industry.
